Spring Slush Cruisin'

With the Park dialed and the sun out, it's the perfect time to get those spring laps in. This past Thursday I was lucky enough to get to film with some of the Nomis crew, Simon Chamberlain and Blair McKinney. I also met up with Zac Dolesky just as the clouds were rolling in, and we managed to get some bangers! Enjoy! http://vimeo.com/40503377

PS. Congrats to Ryan Rose and Family Tree the winners of the Quiksilver Filmmaker and Photo Showdown. Also big thanks to everyone who voted for me, my edit won Viewers Choice! You can check out my bail reel here.

They Take VISA!

This years Quiksilver Showdown Over the City was an amazing first taste of sunny spring. The new location for the course lead to a perfectly situated spectators area. Knowing that the photographers and videographers showdowns would provide extensive coverage of the event, I took it too the beer garden to see who was hangin'.. The 5th Annual Quiksilver Showdown Over the City

Grouse Mountain hosted it's 5th Annual Quiksilver Showdown Over the City this weekend, and it was awesome! Born five years ago , the event has grown to attract top talent from across Canada and the US with the TTR World Tour 4 Star point designation. Over the past few years the event had been caught in bad weather systems but this year that was not the case. The sun was out, and the beer garden was jumping. Another exciting factor about this years Showdown was the jumps. The Grouse Park Crew built the best course to date. Each of the jumps in the double jump line could have been featured as a stand alone Big Air kicker. With 20' tall wedges and 60' decks these kickers were no joke. Here are a few shots I captured at the event.

February - Wanted List

Recently returning from touring America I was inspired to make a 'Wanted List' for men. February brings unpredictable weather and usually the last burst of cold winter and snow in BC. With the weather in mind I am starting it off with next seasons Volcom camo outerwear paired with a full face mask from Brixton. Keep your hands warm with the innovative reusable heat bags from Poler Stuff and some good looking black leather gloves from Celtek.  Next is a Capita X Volcom Dan Brisse all terrain colab board and Union DLX bindings - Travis Rice rides Union bindings, why don't you? Then some Drink Water stickers to slap on your board as a  friendly reminder to... drink water. Pack everything else into a locally designed Herschel backpack and your good to go.

Grouse Park Playlist 4 - Paparazzi

Stream Grouse Park Playlist #4A playlist is like a recipe. You need to put in the right ingredients and the right amount of each ingredient or else whatever you are cooking is going to come out tasting like crap. I listen to music every time I ride. The tracks a play depend on what I'm riding. When I am riding rails in the park I am more likely to listen to Hip Hop and Remixes. If it is a powder day I will probably put on some Indie or Classic Rock. I put this playlist together for riding Grouse Park to keep you moving. I worked on the recipe simmering a bunch of Electro Pop and Indie sounds, adding some new and old tracks for flavour and a dash of Remixes to give it the right texture.

  1. Heartbeats (Extended Mix)  - Grum
  2. Devil's Work - Miike Snow
  3. Strictly Game (Kid's at the Bar Remix) - Harlem Shakes
  4. I Want You - Summer Camp
  5. Oh Yeah (Nighty Max Remix) -  Housse Da Racket
  6. Shuffle on a Dream - Little Dragon
  7. Fail Forever - When Saints Go Marching
  8. Not In Love (ft. Robert Plant) - Crystal Castles
  9. Staring At The Sun (TV On The Radio - Diplo
  10. The Drummer - Niki and the Dove
  11. NY Is Killing Me - Gil Scot-Heron ft. Jamie xx
  12. Embrace - Pnau ft. Ladyhawke
  13. Heartbeat (Chase and Status Remix) - Nneka
  14. Household Goods - Totally Enormous Dinosaur
  15. Little Girl (MSTRKRFT Remix) - Death from Above 1979
  16. Gothstar - Pictureplane

Listen, stream and share the Grouse Park playlist #4 - Paparazzi here.

Our next playlist will be songs that we play in the park. You asked for it on Facebook and we will bring it to you here on grousepark.com. Have fun at 24 Hours this weekend!

Straight from the Quikpark

I have to say that both the Cut Line and Quikpark are prime right now. Did a couple laps yesterday and I was having way too much fun. I brought out the camera for the last run. Here are the results.

These are only three of the many features that are up right now. Come up and check it out! Photo creds to Kaz Yamamura and a big shout out to the Park Crew.
